We are excited to announce the sale of a special, limited edition print commemorating the 360th anniversary of the Wells Harbour Commissioners, 1663–2023. This artwork also celebrates the designation of the Port of Wells as a Heritage Harbour.
The print, painted by local artist and former Harbour Commissioner Godfrey Sayers, captures a scene from the early 1800s. It beautifully depicts Wells’ historic harbour, featuring an old steam tug, wicker-top channel markers, and a ship unloading at Walker’s jetty. The scene transports you back in time to when cargo was moved by horse and cart across the marsh or floated by barge to the Old Haven for unloading.
Each print is landscape in format, measuring 38.5 cm by 31 cm, and comes new, unopened, and unframed. They are individually numbered and signed by the artist, making each one a unique collector’s item. With only 300 available, these limited edition prints are a perfect way to own a piece of Wells’ rich maritime history.
